Student Newsletter -November 2018- By Christopher Usami

Hello, present and future G30 students,

My name is Christopher and I am a second year Economics and Business Administration major. So it’s been two years since I walked into the entrance ceremony and got the “welcome” from the head of the school. I can’t believe it’s been two years! My experience at Nagoya University has been a hell of a ride.

“Social life here is amazing, because you get to meet unique people from all over the globe. Although you meet new people, it’s up to you to shape your social life and manage it.”

Like a good senpai (senior) should do, I’ll give you all some heart to heart advice. For the people who just graduated high school and are eager to know about the social life, keep reading. Social life here is amazing, because you get to meet unique people from all over the globe. Although you meet new people, it’s up to you to shape your social life and manage it. One advice I can give you all is to not be afraid of being different from your peers and follow what you would want in life. This is my motto in life and it brings me great success outside university.

Academically, have fun with your classes rather than being stressed about it. Being stressed is just a waste of energy and being optimistic is the key to success. You’ll meet a lot of great people here in the university that will interact with you and help you out when you’re in need, so don’t worry if you’re socially awkward, you’ll be fine.

Last summer, my two best friends traveled to Hawaii to see me for a month while I was studying to get my real estate license. That was a great experience, living with them, partying with them and sharing our life stories with one another. Some seniors may talk about the weather here, clothes and what not, but don’t be lazy and make sure to refer to the Nagoya University site or weather app.

One last thing to close this up, be excited and have a hell of a time!
